AC Milan have made former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas one of their targets in this summer’s transfer window, with the midfielder currently unsettled at the Nou Camp.

Corriere Dello Sport reports that the Italian giants will look to tempt the Spaniard away from his boyhood club, to whom he only returned two years ago.

However, his dream return home has not gone to plan, with Fabregas failing to reproduce his best Arsenal form at the Nou Camp. He has also proven unpopular with the fans after his widely anticipated transfer.

The Catalans paid a large fee to bring back the player who originally came up through their youth system, before leaving for Arsenal at the age of 16 to gain more of a chance for first-team football.

The midfield playmaker developed into a world class talent under Arsene Wenger and was even made club captain at the age of just 21. However, he made no secret of his desire to try his luck again with his home town club Barcelona.

With Tito Vilanova’s side enduring a difficult season, changes are expected to be made to the squad this summer, and Milan fancy their chances of reigniting Fabregas’ career at the San Siro.

The 26-year-old had been linked with a return to the Emirates Stadium, but moved to distance himself from the rumours. Perhaps a new challenge in Italy would be more to his liking.
