Borussia Dortmund are so keen to avoid losing another of their star turns to domestic rivals Bayern Munich that they are desperate to sell Robert Lewandowski to Chelsea according to the Daily Star.

Jurgen Klopp may be resigned to losing the 24 year old striker given he has only just over a year to run on his current contract and as such will look to avoid handing the prolific forward to Dortmund’s Allianz Arena rivals.

Borussia Dortmund are also hopeful that any deal with Chelsea could see them pick up in-form Belgian Kevin de Bruyne in part exchange.

Klopp is keen on bringing in the 21 year old to replace Mario Gotze, who has already agreed to join Bayern Munich, having been impressed by De Bruyne’s showings during his season long loan spell at Werder Bremen this term.

Jose Mourinho, who is said to be close to agreeing a deal to return to Stamford Bridge, is known to be a fan of Lewandowski and was of course on the wrong end of the Polish international’s four goal haul against Real Madrid.

Chelsea could well do with an effective striker as their current forwards are certainly not hitting the back of the net with regularity. Fernando Torres has just reached 1000 Premier League minutes without a goal and Demba Ba has managed just two goals in 11 top tier matches since moving to the West London club in January.

Lewandowski is the Bundesliga’s joint top scorer this term and has racked up a total of 65 goals in all competitions in his past two seasons at the Westfalenstadion.
