Arsenal are to end their 20 year association with Nike as the North London side agree a £30m a year deal with kit manufacturers Puma according to the Daily Mail.

The deal will kick in from 2013/14 onwards and is the most lucrative in British football history, outstripping (pun intended) deals Liverpool and Man United have with Warrior Sports and Nike respectively.

Gunners fans will hope that this big money deal will translate to real investment in the club’s squad. In recent seasons the North London club have steadfastly refused to spend big sums, with some supporters surmising that Arsenal’s eight year silverware drought stems from this lack of squad funding.

Adidas had reportedly been keen on agreeing a deal with Arsenal but Puma have won the deal to supply Arsenal’s kit for five seasons.
