AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has denied rumours that the club will be making a move for veteran Barcelona centre back Carles Puyol this summer, according to Sky Sports.

The club have been linked with a shock move for the Spanish international after he admitted that he holds a soft sport for the Rossoneri, but they have denied the link, instead claiming that they will be targeting younger players.

Yesterday news broke that the Serie A giants are considering a move for Manchester City centre back Kolo Toure, who is a whopping three years younger than his Barcelona counterpart!

And despite admitting their admiration for Puyol, the club denied that they would be pushing ahead with a move.

“Carles is a good friend of Milan and we know how much he loves this club after Barca,” Galliani said.

“But we have to say that our current plans do not include signing any older players, despite Puyol’s ability, and will focus on youngsters.”

However, Galliani did confess that they would bite Barca’s hand off to get to some of their younger players should they become available.

“Barca have a number of young players that would interest us if they were to become available,” he added.

“We talk to them informally on occasion and Barca and Milan maintain an excellent relationship.”

Milan have been linked with the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Alexis Sanchez, though no formal offers have been made yet.
