Arsenal full back Bacary Sagna looks set to stay at the club now following the collapse of a proposed move to big spending PSG, according to the Daily Mail.

The French international has seen his form dip recently in the face of stuttering contract negotiations but saw him unhappy over the club’s proposal of a one year extension with no pay rise attached on to the back of his current deal, which expires next summer.

However, dialogue has reopened between the two and he may well see out the final year of his deal now after a move to PSG fell through.

The Parisians had been interested in taking him to the French capital but plans to introduce a 75 per cent ‘supertax’ in France for the nation’s top earners has put the deal in serious jeopardy. Such a tax deduction would have a significant impact on Sagna’s wage packet if he does leave for the French capital.

However, Arsenal may now decide to offer him a new deal with a pay increase but that is entirely dependent on how he performs in the closing weeks of the season.

Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala have also expressed an interest in landing his signature and have claimed that they wold have no problems in offering him whatever he wants.
