Man United Launch £40m Bid to Sign Everton Pair as David Moyes Makes Summer Transfer Plans

Incoming Old Trafford boss fancies taking a couple of Goodison Park mementos with him.

Incoming boss David Moyes will look to conduct a smash and grab raid to bring in two of his current Goodison Park charges with him to Old Trafford.

Man United will mount a £40m bid to sign Toffees pair Leighton Baines and Marouane Fellaini according to the Daily Mail.

Moyes will hope to make the pair his first summer signings as he sets about improving his Man United squad with the aid of a hefty transfer fund.

Man United are willing to meet the £23m buyout clause places on Belgian midfielder Fellaini as the Premier League champions look to freshen up their midfield.

Though Micheal Carrick has excelled it’s fair to say that the likes of Anderson and Tom Cleverley have lacked consistency when called upon. Paul Scholes is set to retire once again and Darren Fletcher is still feeling his way back after a lengthy illness.

Fellaini has had his most effective Premier League season to date, netting 11 goals for Everton, and there is no doubt that the 25 year old would jump at the chance of a move to Man United.

Similarly 28 year old left-back Leighton Baines may feel it’s time to make a ‘step-up’, especially with a World Cup around the corner and with the defender looking to oust Ashley Cole from the England starting eleven.

The talented attack minded wide-man has long been on the Man United radar and Moyes is willing to fork out £17m to land the former Wigan Athletic man.

With Patrice Evra not putting in his best season there is every possibility that Man United would look to finally land the long term target this summer.
