Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez could hold the key in any deal that would see Cristiano Ronaldo return to the club from Real Madrid, according to The Express.

Reports have suggested recently that the club have set the wheels in motion to bring back their prodigal son with chief executive David Gill even flying out to Madrid to speak with Ronaldo’s agent.

Ronaldo left for Madrid four years ago for a world record fee of £80 million and news of bringing him back to Manchester would go down well with the clubs fans following on from the news of Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement after 27 years in charge at Old Trafford.

A deal is a long way off yet, but it’s thought that if United included Mexican striker Javier Hernandez into the deal, who is wanted by Real this summer anyway, then positive steps will be able to be taken.

Reports in Manchester indicated that United wanted to offer Nani as a part exchange deal, but Real have suggested that they want Hernandez instead.

French champions elect PSG are also said to be keen on bringing Ronaldo to Paris, but Real are said to be interested in exploring a player plus cash deal with Hernandez rather than just accept the paycheque and getting nobody in return.
