Blow For Tottenham As Target Patrick Herrmann Signs New Contract

Spurs to miss out on Borussia Moenchengladbach ace.

Tottenham target Patrick Herrmann has signed a new contract with Bundesliga side Borussia Moenchengladbach, according to the Daily Express.

The 22-year-old winger is one of many exciting young players coming through in German football at the moment, and had been identified as a target for Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas.

Tottenham face the possibility that star player Gareth Bale will leave White Hart Lane in the summer, and Villas-Boas is keen to sign new players in case they lose the Welshman.

Real Madrid are understood to be willing to pay as much as £65million for the former Southampton winger, which would significantly weaken the Spurs team’s hopes of a top four finish next year.

But with the news that Herrmann is now tied down to Borussia Moenchengladbach, Tottenham will have to look elsewhere for reinforcements.

They do look set to strengthen their squad with the double signing from Barcelona of striker David Villa and young midfielder Sergi Roberto.

Another exciting German winger could be on his way to the Premier League in the upcoming transfer window, with Chelsea close to signing Andre Schurrle from Bayer Leverkusen.
