David Moyes will be looking to take defender Phil Jagielka with him when he leaves Everton for Manchester United this summer, according to the Sun.

Having already been linked with a raid on star duo Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines, Jagielka is perhaps a more surprising transfer target for Moyes, but he is said to be willing to pay £10million for the England centre-back.

Jagielka has been linked with Arsenal over the last few years, but, now 30, a move to a bigger club had started to look increasingly unlikely.

However, Moyes knows there is an issue in central defence at Old Trafford, as veteran defender Rio Ferdinand’s contract expires at the end of the season, and his advancing years may mean he is not offered a new deal to remain at United.

Meanwhile, other first-choice centre-back Nemanja Vidic has had a torrid time with injuries over the last couple of years, raising some doubts over his future at the club.

Everton will be keen to hold on to their best players, following the departure of their manager, who has done a sterling job over the last eleven years at Goodison Park.
