Odds on Stamford Bridge side to land Bernabeu and Old Trafford stars plummet.

Chelsea could reportedly be setting their sights on a mouthwatering summer transfer double salvo according to the Daily Express.

This source believes that a huge shift in betting odds on both Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney moving to Chelsea this summer could be a sign that Blues owner Roman Abramovich has set his sights on a mammoth move to land the attacking pair.

27 year old England international Rooney has already confirmed his intention to leave Old Trafford and Chelsea are certainly the favourites to sign the Man United man though one wonders if the Premier League title holders would ever consider selling to a direct domestic rival.

Rooney made a verbal request to leave Man United ahead of David Moyes’s move to replace Sir Alex Ferguson, an appointment likely to further strengthen the striker’s resolve to leave the club as the pair fell out spectacularly following his move from Everton back in 2004.

Cristiano Ronaldo has been strongly linked with a possible Bernabeu exit, which could be aided by the prospect of Jose Mourinho leaving the Spanish giants this summer. Indeed the Portuguese manager is said to be set to rejoin Chelsea and could perhaps have intentions of luring the Real Madrid goal machine to Stamford Bridge.

Ronaldo has scored 200 goals in four seasons at Real Madrid but has secured just one La Liga title in that period and may deem that as something of a failure, which could in turn lead the attacker to consider his options though one would imagine a move back to England to any club other than his former side Man United would be hugely contentious.
