Swansea City are close to securing a deal to bring Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku on loan to the Liberty Stadium next season, according to the Daily Mail.

The 19-year-old has impressed in another loan spell this year, spending the campaign with West Brom and scoring 14 goals in the Premier League, but it seems he has not managed to work himself into Chelsea’s first-team plans.

The striker was signed by the Blues from Anderlecht for £17million, and is a highly rated talent, though Chelsea don’t have a great recent track record of giving young players a chance of regular football.

West Brom manager Steve Clarke had hoped to sign him for another year, but it seems Swansea are leading the race for the forward, who could form a lethal strike partnership with the Swans’ Spanish striker Michu next season.

Michael Laudrup’s side had also enquired about the availability of another Chelsea squad player Victor Moses, though Lukaku’s form this season makes him their first choice.

Lukaku has also been linked with moves to Fulham, West Ham and even Italian giants Juventus.
