The Daily Mirror claims that West Brom are considering a move for Wigan striker Franco Di Santo, who could be on the way out of the DW Stadium following the club’s relegation from the Premier League.

The 24-year-old Argentine could be available on a free transfer after failing to agree a new contract with Roberto Martinez’s side, and would be a decent piece of business for the Baggies as they prepare to lose loan-star Romelu Lukaku next season.

Lukaku has been in fine form in his spell at the Hawthorns, but is now being linked with loan moves to Swansea City and West Ham if he doesn’t cement a regular place in the Chelsea team.

Di Santo, also formerly of Chelsea, has impressed in recent seasons with Wigan, and will want to stay in the Premier League to boost his chances of a place in the Argentina national side for next summer’s World Cup.

The striker could be one of many Wigan players to leave the club following their drop to the Championship, with Liverpool said to be sniffing around for youngsters James McCarthy and Callum McManaman, who impressed in the Latics’ surprise FA Cup win over Manchester City.
