Juventus are the latest club to be linked with unsettled Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen, according to Italian news source Tutto Sport.

The 27-year-old is rumoured to be available for as little as £5million this summer after a poor season which saw him fall out of favour with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.

Vermaelen’s drastic drop in form has not put off a number of major clubs making a move for him, as he was considered one of the Gunners’ most consistent and reliable performers prior to this season.

The Belgian settled quickly into English football after joining From Ajax in 2009, but responded badly to being given the captaincy this season following the shock departure of Robin van Persie to Manchester United.

Barcelona and Napoli have shown the strongest interest so far, and United have also been mentioned as potential suitors, though Juventus are also keen to spend big in this summer’s transfer window.

The Serie A winners have been linked with several big names, such as Gonzalo Higuain of Real Madrid and Carlos Tevez of Manchester City

Arsenal are already said to be looking at defenders to replace Vermaelen, such as Valencia’s Adil Rami and Swansea City’s Ashley Williams.
