New Napoli manager Rafael Benitez is plotting a raid on Chelsea for defender David Luiz, after leaving the club just this week.

According to the Daily Express, the Brazilian centre-back could make a big-money move to Serie A, with Napoli likely to have large amounts of money to spend following the inevitable sale of star striker Edinson Cavani.

The Italian side are also keen to strengthen their squad this summer and build on a good season last year, where they finished second to Juventus in Serie A and secured a place in the Champions League.

Luiz has established himself as a key player at Chelsea, though he himself has said previously that working under Benitez at Stamford Bridge was a key factor in him improving his game, and he could be tempted to join the Spaniard at his new club.

The 26-year-old, who arrived from Benfica in 2011, has also been linked Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona, and is valued at around £30million.

Chelsea striker Fernando Torres has also been linked with following Benitez to Italy, as he is likely to be for sale this summer after some disappointing form with the Blues since joining from former club Liverpool, where he found arguably the best form of his career under Benitez.
