Arsene Wenger is known to be an admirer of Lyon youngster Clement Grenier and the Daily Star today claim that the playmaker is ‘set to sign’ for the North London club.

The 22 year old helped secure a Champions League berth for Lyon after a consistent season that saw the midfielder rack up seven goals and six assists for Remi Garde’s side.

Grenier has certainly given enough of an indication that a move to the Emirates Stadium is a distinct possibility, stating following his side’s final match of the campaign;

“I’ve more or less made a decision about which club I want to join. I’ve made the choice for sporting reasons. Arsenal? It could be them”

Whilst there is perhaps no denying the potential Grenier possesses one would imagine Gunners fans would wonder at the necessity in buying yet another creative midfield when a number of other areas of the Arsenal squad would appear in more dire need of attention this summer.

Indeed Wenger would do well to bring in an experienced keeper given the inconsistent displays put in by Pole Wojciech Szczesny and the North London club could certainly do with an out and out defensive midfielder and maybe a prolific striker as Olivier Giroud hasn’t exactly filled the void left by Robin Van Persie’s departure to Old Trafford.
