West Ham Ready to Hand Tottenham Flop David Bentley Chance to Rescue His Ailing Career

West Ham are set to offer Tottenham’s forgotten flop David Bentley something of a career rescue package according to the Daily Star.

The former Arsenal and Blackburn Rovers winger has seen little first team action at White Hart Lane and been farmed out on loan on a number of occasions without seemingly enhancing the England international’s career prospects, therefore the offer of a move to Upton Park will almost certainly be gleefully accepted by the 28 year old.

Sam Allardyce is keen to land the attacking midfielder but will apparently have to beat off interest from Wigan Athletic and West Brom in his pursuit of the Spurs man.

Tottenham spent a massive £15m to sign Bentley back in July 2008 but has only made 32 Premier League starts in his five years at the club and one would imagine the North London club would accept a fraction of their outlay given that the bit-part player has just a year to run on his current contract.

Indeed Andre Villas-Boas may be willing to allow Bentley to leave on a free transfer just to wipe his salary off the club’s wage bill.

Bentley’s last Tottenham Premier League start came way back in November 2010.
