Returning Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly planning a surprise move to sign Galatasaray playmaker Wesley Sneijder according to Turkish source NTVSpor.

The Portuguese manager knows Snejder well from their shared time at the San Siro and has maintained a close friendship with the Dutch international so perhaps that could equate to the possibility that the Blues boss could consider a move for the 28 year old.

However given that Sneijder only moved to the Istanbul giants in January one would imagine Galatasaray would not be keen on losing the talented attacking midfielder’s services so soon.

The former Ajax, Real Madrid and Inter Milan man has impressed during his time in Turkey, helping his side to secure a Super Lig title and the Champions League quarter-finals.

Sneijder was brought to Inter Milan by Mourinho and proceeded to help the Nerazzurri to a famous treble of Serie A, Coppa Italia and Champions League titles, scoring eight goals and providing 16 assists in the process.

Mourinho may feel that the cultured midfielder could act as a medium term replacement for Frank Lampard and there’s no doubting that Dutchman could work well alongside the likes of Oscar, Juan Mata and Eden Hazard.
