Arsenal are ready to make a move to bring St Etienne’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to the Premier League.

The Gabon forward has been lighting up Ligue 1 this season with his mazy dribbling and clinical finishing and is looks certain to leave St Etienne in the coming months.

French champions PSG were thought to be leading the race for Aubameyang but the player has revealed he would prefer not to move to one of St Etienne’s Ligue 1 rivals.

That could pave the way for a move to the Premier League, with Arsenal reportedly ready to match St Etienne’s £12 million asking price.

Arsenal’s interest comes as they were frustrated in their attempts to sign other targets. Fiorentina are remaining resolute in their demands for £25 million for Montenegrin striker Stevan Jovetic while it appears that Real Madrid forward Gonzalo Higuain is set for a move to Italy.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is keen to bring in a new striker as he continues his search for a replacement for Dutch striker Robin Van Persie. Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski were brought into the club last summer but have failed to make the centre forward position their own, prompting Wenger to return once more to the transfer market.
