Man United will make £10m PSV Eindhoven midfielder Kevin Strootman the first signing of David Moyes’s Old Trafford reign according to the Daily Star.

The 23 year old Dutch international is currently away on national team duty with the Under 21 side but may well be on his way to Man United on his return.

Sir Alex Ferguson had been strongly linked with interest in the box to box performer and Moyes had also attempted to lure Strootman to Goodison Park during his time at Everton.

Moyes sees the powerful midfielder as an ideal long term replacement for Paul Scholes, who retired for a second, and probably last, time at the end of the season.

Strootman has impressed during his two seasons at the Philips Stadion having impressed at Utrecht enough to secure a move to the Dutch giants. However having seen his side pipped to the Eredivisie post by Ajax in both seasons has probably left the PSV Eindhoven man open to a move to the Premier League title holders.

Kevin Strootman netted five goals in the Dutch top tier last term but more impressively provided 11 assists.
