Premier League new boys Hull City have reportedly had a second bid for Kasper Schmeichel turned down by Championship club Leicester City, according to Sky Sports.

The 26-year-old is seen as the ideal man to take the number one spot at the KC Stadium after loanees Ben Amos and David Stockdale returned to Manchester United and Fulham respectively.

It had been thought that Steve Bruce would make Aston Villa veteran Shay Given his first choice target after the Republic of Ireland international suffered a frustrating campaign on the bench behind Brad Guzan.

However, it is the Danish international who is wanted the most and Bruce has been frustrated again after a second bid was rejected by the East Midlands outfit.

But that is not thought to be enough to deter the former Wigan boss as he is set to return with a third offer in an attempt to land his man.

Schmeichel joined Leicester from Leeds United in 2011 and has caught the eye with a number of fine performances that saw him earn a place in the Championship Team of the Season. He also earned his first cap with the Danish national side in February of this year in a 3-0 win over Macedonia.
