Former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler has said that he hopes to see Luis Suarez stay at the club for the foreseeable future.

In an interview with the Daily Mail the Anfield legend, known affectionately by the fans as ‘God’ stated that the club have a much better chance at winning titles with him than without him.

The 26-year-old Uruguayan admitted recently that he would like to join Real Madrid, but those connected with the Merseyside club believe that there is still hope with regard to keeping hold of him.

And Fowler is one of them. When asked if he thought they could keep him he said: “I hope so. Any side in the world with Suarez in it is a better team. I hope he stays at Liverpool for a long time – I want to see him win trophies there.”

“For me he (Suarez) was the Player of the Year. I think he was just more consistent. Gareth Bale and Robin van Persie were unbelievable last year but for me Suarez just edged them.

“All the best players have always had a little bit of an edge, and he has been on record numerous times saying he doesn’t help himself.”
