Arsenal and Newcastle target could make £25million move to Russia.
Big-spending Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala could now be the favourites to sign Saint Etienne starlet Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to talkSPORT.
The 23-year-old is widely considered to be one of the best young players in France at the moment, and has caught the eye of a number of top clubs after scoring 21 goals for Saint Etienne this season.
The forward, formerly of AC Milan, has been linked several times with Arsenal, Newcastle and Liverpool, but these clubs may now be priced out of a move as Anzhi seem set to offer the French side £25million for the Gabon international.
The wealthy Russian team have made a number of big signings in recent years, most notably of Samuel Eto’o from Inter Milan, making the former Barcelona star one of the best-paid players in world football.
Aubameyang certainly has the potential to be one of the top players in the world, and may feel a move to Russia is not the right one for him, after previously expressing his dream to play for Spanish giants Real Madrid.
However, he will also know he will have to move at some point for his career to move forward, though Saint Etienne made some progress in Ligue 1 this season, finishing in fifth and claiming a Europa League place for next year.
