Hull manager Steve Bruce is set to bid £4 million for Celtic striker Gary Hooper according to Sky Sports.

The newly-promoted side, who piped Watford to second place in the Championship last season, are looking to add a goal scorer to their squad and see Hooper as the ideal candidate.

The Englishman was the subject of four separate bids from Norwich during last season, with the Canneries boss Chris Hughton a huge admired of the Celtic striker.

Reports suggest that Hughton is set to make another bid for Hooper but isn’t prepared to pay over the odds for the striker as he has already signed Ricky Van Wolfswinkel this summer.

If Norwich cannot afford to buy Hooper, the door will be open for Hull to sign the striker, who has one year remaining on his contract at Celtic.

Hooper has not signed a new contract with the Scottish Champions as he is keen on a move back to England, hoping that by playing in the Premier League, he will get a call-up into the England squad.

Recently relegated Reading are also interested in Hooper but it is doubtful that he would be willing to move to a club in the Championship.
