The agent of Inter Milan midfielder Joel Obi has claimed that his client is a wanted man by several Premier League clubs, Sky Sports reports.

The 22-year-old saw his season curtailed by injury, which limited him to just three appearances and forced him to miss Nigeria’s African Nations Cup campaign.

He joined the Italian giants from Nigerian minnows NEPA Lagos in 2010 but has struggled to establish himself in the side, playing just 48 times in three years. However, that has not deterred the likes of Sunderland and Newcastle United who could be set to make a move for the player this summer as his agent, Renzo Contratto, confirmed that there is some significant interest.

“I can say that Joel is a player liked in the Premier League,” he told FC Inter News. “The guy had a difficult season but now is fine.

“He will leave for the Inter pre-season and then we’ll see what the club wants to do.

“Obi is an Inter player and has a contract until 2017 but from now to the market’s end, no one can predict what will happen”.

Obi made his biggest impact during the 2011-12 season where he made 27 appearances, scoring once.
