Barcelona are the latest club to be linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski, according to talkSPORT.

The Polish striker has been in fantastic form this season and his 36 goals for the Bundesliga side have seen him become one of the most sought-after strikers in Europe.

The 24-year-old was believed to be holding out for a move to Dortmund’s rivals Bayern Munich, following in the footsteps of team-mate Mario Goetze, who was confirmed as being signed by the Bavarian giants earlier this season.

However, Jurgen Klopp’s side have moved to block any deal to see another one of their star players join their rivals, who beat them in the Champions League final last month, opening a door for Lewandowski to join a big club abroad.

Manchester United were strongly linked with the Pole last summer before they eventually chose to sign Robin van Persie, but with the futures of Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez up in the air, they could move for him again this year.

Chelsea have also been linked with him, but now Barcelona will step up their interest as they look to improve their squad for next season.

The likes of David Villa, Cristian Tello and Alexis Sanchez could all leave the Nou Camp this summer, leaving manager Tito Vilanova short of attacking options, though the club have already confirmed the signing of Brazilian star Neymar.

Supposedly a move for Lewandowski could see Barca’s highly-rated youngster Gerard Deulofeu move in the opposite direction in a swap deal.
