Inter Milan have turned down an offer from Barcelona for their goalkeeper Samir Handanovic according to Gazzetta Dello Sport.

The La Liga giants are currently in the market for a new goalkeeper following the announcement from the club’s current number one, Victor Valdes, that he intends on leaving the club.

Valdes is hoping to leave the Nou Camp in search of a new challenge and had intended to leave this summer. But the Barcelona hierarchy have reportedly persuaded Valdes to see out the remaining year on his contract with the club.

But that is not stopping the Catalan giants from beginning their search for his replacement and they have reportedly made an offer to Inter of nearly £20 million for the Slovenian stopper.

Inter President Massimo Moratti pointed out that goalkeepers are difficult to replace and he was keen to keep his focus on signing a midfielder for the club.

That may force Barcelona into looking at alternative targets for Valdes’ replacement. The Catalan side have been strongly linked with Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina over the last few months, and with the Anfield side reportedly close to agreeing a deal for Sunderland’s Simon Mignolet, the Merseyside club could be willing to do a deal.
