New Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has asked Roman Abramovich if he can sign Dutch star Wesley Sneijder according to the Daily Mirror.

Mourinho is a big fan of Sneijder and the two worked well together when they were at Inter Milan and now Mourinho wants to be re-united with the Dutch midfielder.

Sneijder has had a difficult time recently, falling out of favour with previous club Inter Milan and now playing for Turkish side Galatasaray.

Things could be looking up Sneijder and a re-union with Mourinho at Chelsea would certainly appeal to him.

The Dutchman certainly played his best football under Mourinho and it could be a chance for him to re-launch his career as one of Europe’s most gifted play-makers.

Mourinho is understood to have asked Abramovich to sign Snejder before agreeing to a return to Stamford Bridge and it looks like the former Real Madrid manager may just get his wish.

It could prove to be a very busy summer at Chelsea, with the club being linked with many high profile transfers.

Mourinho made his first signing as Chelsea boss last week, bringing in German forward Andre Schurrle from Bayer Leverkusen for £18 million.
