Aston Villa’s want away striker Darren Bent could be on his way to Newcastle United this summer but only if Aston Villa agree to a sensible transfer fee according to the Daily Mirror.

Bent will also have to lower his wage demands if he wants to move to the North East.

The striker has had a frustrating season at Aston Villa, often finding himself on the bench despite the clubs brush with relegation.

Villa manager Paul Lambert favoured youth over Bent and it now looks like the striker could be moving away from the club, with Newcastle the front runners for his signature.

However, Newcastle have said he will have to take a pay cut and Villa will have to lower their £6 million valuation.

Bent is currently on a £75,000 a week contract and Newcastle are not prepared to pay that amount to Bent.

The 29 year old was once one of the Premier League’s most deadly strikers and was a regular for the England team.

The striker had one of his most prolific spells while at Charlton under manager Alan Pardew and will hope that a re-union with Pardew at Newcastle can spark something similar.
