Valencia defender Aly Cissokho could be on his way to Liverpool this summer as Brendan Rodgers’ men lead the charge to land his signature, talkSPORT reports.

The 25-year-old has been vocal over his desire to head for the Premier League in recent months and now looks set to get his wish this summer. He had been in line to join Everton last year as a potential replacement for Leighton Baines who had been expected to join Manchester United, but they may have now missed their chance as Liverpool are now in pole position to acquire his services.

The French stopper has been identified by Rodgers as the ideal man to replace Jose Enrique as he nears the exit door toward Southampton and it is a move Cissokho has admitted he would jump at after losing his place in the La Liga outfit’s line up toward the end of the campaign.

“In the second part of the season I don’t have as much playing time, unlike the first. Are English clubs my future? I am proud that my name is matched with these clubs but I’m fine here. I just hope to play more,” Cissokho said.

“Liverpool? I have never hidden that the Premier League is the league that attracts me the most. It’s pleasing to see my name linked to that of the Reds. They’re a great club, and not just anyone can wear that shirt. For now, however it is just rumours.”
