Careca has said that Napoli must not sell star striker Edinson Cavani.
Former Napoli star Careca has said that the club cannot afford to sell striker Edinson Cavani according to Goal.com.
Cavani has been linked with many of the top clubs in Europe, including Real Madrid, Manchester City and Chelsea.
Reports suggest that Napoli had turned down an offer from Chelsea for Cavani and the players father has recently said that his son wants to move to Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Manchester City were also planning a move for Cavani, with striker Edin Dzeko moving in the opposite direction as part of the move.
However, club legend Careca has said that the club cannot afford to sell Cavani as he is to important to them.
“It’s quite simple for Napoli, they should not let Cavani go. The team would lose 70 per cent of its strength if he were to leave. He scores too many goals and is always decisive,” said Careca.
Cavani has a £53 million release clause in his contract and Napoli have said that clubs hoping to sign him will have to pay that amount.
If a club does activate that clause, Napoli will have no choice but to let Cavani leave and will have to look for a replacement.
Careca believes that if Napoli lose Cavani they should try and sign Brazilian Leo Damiao, who has hinted that he would like to move to Europe this summer.
