Saint Etienne youngster Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could be set for a summer move to Monaco, after his father and agent has tried to talk up a move to the big-spending French giants.

A host of big clubs have been tracking the 23-year-old for the last few months, with the Premier League seeming a likely destination for him after interest from Arsenal, Newcastle and particularly Tottenham.

However, according to Sky Sports, it now seems likely that the Gabon international will stay in Ligue 1 as the latest part of the revolution taking place at big-spending Monaco.

The forward spent time on loan at Monaco earlier in his career, but would return in very different circumstances now after becoming one of the most sought-after talents in world football.

When asked about interest from Claudio Ranieri’s side, his agent said: “Monaco? If they come see or see me directly, it is clear that there will be an exchange with them.

“When you see the Monaco project, [it can be seen that] this will be a serious competitor of PSG.

“This kind of club will be successful in a year or two. That is what I am now looking for my son.”

Monaco have already beaten Tottenham to one of their top targets this summer, signing Porto midfielder Joao Moutinho from under their noses last month. They have also brought in other big names in Radamel Falcao and James Rodriguez, and are targeting many more as they look to build a title-winning team.
