Gunners to move for in-form attacking midfielder.
Arsenal are plotting an exciting move to add Lille attacker Dimitri Payet to their squad this summer, according to the Daily Mail.
The 26-year-old has been in lethal form for the French side this season, scoring 12 goals. He also provided 13 assists in the league, the third best record in Europe’s top 5 leagues this season.
Although Arsenal have good depth in their attacking midfield options, they are said to be considering a number of upgrades on the likes of Gervinho and Tomas Rosicky, who could both leave the Emirates Stadium in this transfer window.
The Gunners have also been linked with Marseille playmaker Mathieu Valbuena, and manager Arsene Wenger is known for his fondness for bringing in players from his native France.
Wenger signed Olivier Giroud from Montpellier last summer, and a winger like Payet would complement his playing style well, as he is a good dribbler who likes to get to the byline and get crosses in.
Payet only has three caps for the French national team, but that is likely to change after the former Saint Etienne man had an excellent season for Lille.
The Frenchman had previously been linked with a move to Liverpool, though they seem to have switched their attention to Ajax star Christian Eriksen.
