Chelsea have earmarked a summer move for £10m rated Sevilla midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia, with Jose Mourinho making the capture of the French youngster a priority according to the London Evening Standard.

With speculation rife that John Obi Mikel may leave Stamford Bridge there could well be scope for a fresh defensive midield option and even if the Nigerian international were not to make a Chelsea exit it seems Mourinho is very keen to bring in 20 year old Kondogbia.

The powerful battler moved to join La Liga side Sevilla from Lens last year and has made an impressive fist of it in the Spanish top tier.

Kondogbia made 31 La Liga appearances last term and may well have become a player who caught Mourinho’s attention during his time at Real Madrid.

Having already brought in Andre Schurrle from Bayer Leverkusen the returning Blues boss will look to bring in the French Under 20 international as his second signing of what may well prove to be a very busy summer.

Chelsea are perhaps in need of strong enforcer type options, Obi Mikel has been the main focus of attention in that regard since Michael Essien ceased to be a first team regular. Oriol Romeu is yet to make an impact at Chelsea and Ramires is perhaps a far more effective option going forward.
