Bernabeu attacker on Etihad Stadium radar.
Man City are ready and waiting to make their move for Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria but will first have to bide their time as the Bernabeu side continues their push to sign Tottenham attacker Gareth Bale.
The Etihad stadium side hope to tempt the Argentine to the Premier League according to the Daily Star with the 25 year old set to be offloaded should re-elected Real Madrid president finally land long term target Bale.
Incoming City boss Manuel Pellegrini has already welcomed new signings Jesus Navas and Fernandinho from Sevilla and Shakhtar Donestk respectively, for an estimated combined fee of around £45m and one would imagine any successful bid for Di Maria would set the big spending Premier League back £25m or more.
Though the former Boca Juniors wide-man had something of an off season last term Di Maria has still been a major success since his move to the club from Benfica back in July 2010, since when he has racked up 32 assists and 18 goals in La Liga action alone.
Pellegrini may feel that his wide attacking options could be improved and given that Samir Nasri has been poor since arriving from Arsenal there is certainly scope for improvement in this area, hence the club’s capture of Navas.
