Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has confirmed that he will be staying at the club this summer following reports suggesting that he had a falling out with the clubs hierarchy, Goal.com reports.

Newcastle confirmed that Joe Kinnear would be the clubs Director of Football on Monday amid widespread surprise at the appointment.

Pardew was said to be shocked at the appointment but is willing to try and make it work.

The former West Ham boss had an excellent 2011-2012 campaign, steering the club to fifth in the Premier League and a place in the Europa League.

Pardew was expected to deliver more success for the 2012-2013 campaign and was handed an unprecedented 8 year contract.

However, things did not go to plan on Tyneside last season, with injuries and the clubs participation in the Europa League leading to a loss of form in the Premier League.

The club narrowly avoided relegation, finishing in 16th place and owner Mike Ashley has appointed Kinnear to make sure the club improves their performances next season.

This lead to rumours that Pardew may leave the club but he told fans that “I’m staying to lead United back up the Premier League table!”

This will be a relief to Newcastle fans who have been dismayed by Joe Kinnear’s recent comments.

Kinnear gave a radio interview where he mispronounced many of the Newcastle players names and claimed he was much smarter than most people at Newcastle.
