Arsenal appear to have a free run at capturing highly rated AZ Alkmaar midfielder Adam Maher after Ajax pulled out of the chase to sign the Dutch international according to talkSPORT.

The 19 year old had two excellent seasons in the Eredivisie but may well be tempted by the chance to ply his trade in the Premier League and Arsene Wenger is known to be a long term admirer of the teenager.

Maher has four senior national team caps to his name and represented the Dutch Under 21 side at the European Under 21 Championships this month, starting three of Holland’s four matches.

The talented flair player has been linked with a number of sides across Europe but Arsenal’s interest may be tempered by the fact that Arsene Wenger does have many similar style players in his Arsenal squad.

That said Maher is considered to be one of the hottest prospects of his generation and could therefore be a player Wenger feels is too good to pass up.

Maher already has almost 100 top tier club appearances to his name and is a player with a great deal of potential and a move away from the AFAS Stadion is sure to happen sooner rather than later.
