Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata has denied reports linking him with a move away from the club according to ESPN.

The Spanish star has been linked with a move to Barcelona in recent weeks after a highly impressive season at Stamford Bridge.

Mata was arguably Chelsea’s best players last season albeit in a campaign where the club struggled to impress. They will be looking to make an improved bid at the Premier League and Champions League trophies next season under the guidance of Jose Mourinho and Mata is keen to be a part of that.

Mata is currently out on international duty with Spain as they compete in this summer’s Confederations Cup tournament. They face Tahiti on Thursday and Mata insists he was fully focused on helping Spain into the latter stages of the tournament.

Mata’s denial follows hotly on the footsteps of his fellow compatriot Fernando Torres. Barcelona were rumoured to be interested in his signature too but Torres denied that he was looking to leave the club.

Neither of the pair would be guaranteed first team football with the Catalan giants having recently bought Brazilian sensation Neymar, despite already boasting the likes of Leo Messi, Cesc Fabregas, David Villa and Alexis Sanchez in their ranks.
