Serie A side Lazio have told Tottenham Hotspur that they won’t be selling midfielder Hernanes to them, or anyone else, according to talkSPORT.

The 28-year-old is currently with the Brazilian national side on Confederations Cup duty and has been a long time target for Spurs as well as Paris Saint Germain, who recently sent Leonardo over to Brazil to check on the player in a bid to convince him to make a switch to the French capital.

However, the Italian side have moved quickly to wave away any speculation linking the central midfielder with a move away from the club this summer.

“It is nice to know that Hernanes is liked, but we like him more than anybody else,” the club’s president Claudio Lotito said.

“We have no intention of selling him. Hernanes can not be touched because he is an integral part of the project here.”

Lazio signed Hernanes from Brazilian club Sao Paolo in 2010 for a fee of £11.1 million. He has since gone on to make 132 appearances for side, scoring 37 goals.

The club made a bright start to their Serie A campaign but fell away towards a seventh place finish, however, his partnership with Miroslav Klose kept the side in the running for a Europa League spot right throughout the campaign.
