Napoli have entered the race to sign Luis Suarez as Edinson Cavani looks set to leave the club, the Daily Mirror reports.

Cavani has attracted the interest of Real Madrid, Manchester City and Chelsea.

The player has already held talks with Real Madrid’s lawyers and the Spanish capital is his preferred destination.

Napoli’s new boss Rafa Benitez is resigned to losing one of the most highly rated strikers in Europe and will try and replace him with another one, Cavani’s Uruguayan team-mate Luis Suarez.

Benitez sees Suarez as the ideal replacement for Cavani and with Napoli set to pot at least £50 million for selling the striker, Benitez will be able to replace him with a top quality striker.

Suarez looks set to leave Liverpool this summer and has been flirting with Real Madrid through the media while he plays at the Confederations Cup.

However, it is unlikely that both Cavani and Suarez can move to Madrid and the Spanish club look more likely to sign Cavani at the moment, meaning Suarez will miss out on Madrid and have to either stay at Liverpool or find another club.

Napoli could interest Suarez as they will play in the Champions League next season and be challenging for Serie A.
