West Bromwich Albion have stepped up their interest in former Chelsea midfielder Yossi Benayoun according to Goal.com.

Benayoun’s £90,000 a week contract at Chelsea expired at the end of last season and the Israeli is looking to join another club.

The midfielder would prefer to stay in the Premier League but is also interested in a move to the MLS  in America.

He has also interested clubs in La Liga and the Bundesliga while Reading have also identified Benayoun as their number target this summer as they look to bounce back from their relegation.

Benayoun’s agent Ronen Katzev has admitted that his client is set to decide his future within the next fortnight.

“We have been negotiating with another club in the Premier League and clubs in Germany and Spain so Yossi will have to make a decision very soon. He has been playing in England for a long time now so it has become like a second home to him,” said Katzev.

Benayoun came to the Premier League in 2005 when West Ham bought him for £2.5 million from Spanish club Racing Santander.

He spent 2 years at Upton Park before moving to Liverpool, where he spent 3 years and then moved to Chelsea.

He struggled to nail down a starting place at Chelsea and has spent time on loan at Arsenal and West Ham in recent seasons.
