Arsenal full-back Barcary Sagna has said that reports linking him with a move away from the club are just pure speculation and he is currently in talks with Arsenal about a new contract, Goal.com reports.
Sagna had been linked with a move back to France, with big spending clubs Paris St Germain and AS Monaco interested in the Frenchman.
The right-back also said during last season that he was unhappy at Arsenal’s failure to win any silverware.
However, Sagna has dismissed the rumours saying he is in talks with Arsenal over an extension to his current contract.
“We are still talking [about a new contract]. I never said I wanted to leave the club but there are some journalists who want to speculate as I have just one year to go,” said Sagna in an interview.
The Frenchman also believes that the club can mount a challenge for this seasons Premier League title, having finished 16 points behind champions Manchester United last season.
Sagna also believes that the club can do it without adding to their current squad of players.
“I truly believe we can be champions or else I wouldn’t be playing football. I would have gone already,” the right-back insisted. “I truly believe we can succeed with the team we have”.
Arsenal have been heavily linked with Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain and Everton midfielder Maurone Fellaini.
