David De Gea has said that he would like to see his international team-mate Thiago Alcantara join Manchester United according to Goal.com.

The Manchester United goalkeeper would love to see Thiago at Old Trafford next season but understands that Barcelona are unlikely to let the highly-rated play-maker leave without a fight.

New United boss David Moyes is keen to re in force his central midfield this summer and has identified Thiago as one of his top targets.

“Hopefully I will have a Spanish team-mate at United next season. I, and every other Manchester United player, would like him to join the club,” said De Gea in a recent interview.

Thiago has been linked with a move away from Barcelona this summer having struggled to get in their first team last season, despite being one the most highly rated young players in Europe.

His stock rose further when he scored a hat-trick in the under 21 European Championship final, helping Spain beat Italy 4-2.

Although Thiago has a contract with Barcelona until 2015, his release clause has been lowered because he didn’t play enough games for the club last season.

His release clause is now £15.4 million and he has attracted interest from Real Madrid and Bayern Munich as well as Manchester United.
