Martin Skrtel will probably not be moving to Napoli this summer according to the players agent.

Sky Sports reports that earlier this month, Karol Csonto revealed that he was set to have talks with Liverpool over Skrtel’s future.

The defender is understood to be disappointed that he lost his place in Liverpool’s starting line-up last season and was seeking assurances of his place at Anfield next season.

This led to speculation that Skrtel could be leaving the Reds this summer, with former boss Rafa Benitez interested in bringing the defender to his new club Napoli.

However, Csonto has said that he doubts Napoli would be able to afford Skrtel and hopes that his client will be playing at Anfield next season.

“Napoli? I think they haven’t the financial possibilities to take him. Liverpool has not decided a price because they don’t intend to sell the player. Anyway, I don’t think that Napoli can afford his wage,” said Csonto.

Skrtel may get more of an opportunity in Liverpool’s first team next season due to the retirement of Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher.

However, the club recently signed Kolo Toure on a free transfer from Manchester City, so Skrtel will have to work hard in order start the season as one of the Reds first choice centre-backs.
