Manchester City are reportedly close to securing a deal for Malaga’s Isco according to The Daily Mail. The Spanish youngster is regarded as one of the hottest prospects in Europe after a highly impressive season with La Liga side Malaga.

The Spain under-21 star was an integral part of the Malaga team that reached the quarter-finals of last season’s Champions League and were unlucky to be knocked out by eventual finalists Borussia Dortmund.

Isco’s performances have not gone unnoticed with Real Madrid thought to be keen to secure the player’s services. But it is understood that Isco had reservations about whether he would get much first team football were he to move to the Bernabeu.

Those fears were not allayed despite Zinedine Zidane’s attempts to reassure the player. Isco felt it was not worth the risk with the World Cup finals in Brazil just around the corner.

That has paved the way for Isco to move to Manchester City, where he is set to team up with his former mentor and Malaga boss Manuel Pellegrini.

The pair know each other well and it is thought that was a major factor in Isco’s decision to choose a move to Manchester City. The deal is expected to be wrapped up over the weekend.
