Premier League duo Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are set to miss out on signing Brazilian starlet Felipe Anderson after it appears that he has opted to join Italian side Lazio instead, according to talkSPORT.

Both clubs had the Santos starlet extensively scouted last season and were considering making a bid for the highly rated 20-year-old this summer, though it now appears that they have missed their chance.

Lazio have reportedly already agreed a fee of around £7m with the player’s third-party owners to take him from Santos to the Italian capital.

And the young attacking midfielder already believes that he made the right choice at turning his back on the English top flight for a switch to the Stadio Olimpico.

“The fans are calling me a phenomenon. I’m already learning Italian,” he said.

The Brazilian under-20 international first made his debut for Santos in 2010 and has since gone on to make over 100 appearances during his three years spell, scoring nine goals in the process.

He is already building up quite the collection of silverware too, having picked up two Sao Paolo State League titles, a Recopa Sudamericana trophy, and one Copa Libertadores in 2011.

He had been close to joining Lazio in the January transfer window but the Brazilian side failed to send over the necessary tax documents in time for the move to be completed.
