Chelsea have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Dutch international Marco Van Ginkel according to a report on the Daily Express website.

The 20 year old impressed greatly at the European Under 21 Championships in Israel following a superb season with Vitesse Arnhem and is thought to have many prospective suitors, including Blues rivals Man United who sent chief scout Jim Lawlor to monitor his displays this month.

This source claims that Jose Mourinho is close to agreeing a move to sign the attacking midfielder whilst also stating that Dutch reports suggest a deal has already been struck between the West London club and Vitesse Arnhem, a side that Chelsea have strong ties with, having loaned a number of players to the Eredivisie club in recent seasons.

Van Ginkel is considered one of the hottest young properties in European football and was voted the Dutch Young Player of the Year for his efforts in 2012/13, during which he helped Vitesse to their best finish in 15 years.

Mourinho is apparently keen to continue Chelsea’s youthful transfer policy and Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich will have been pleased with the efforts of those young talents he brought in last summer with the likes of Oscar, Eden Hazard and Cesar Azpilicueta becoming hugely important first team contributors.
