Liverpool have agreed a fee of around £11m with Sunderland for highly rated keeper Simon Mignolet according to Sky Sports.

The Belgian international is now set to discuss personal terms with the Anfield side, who have already signed Kolo Toure and Luis Alberto from Man City & Sevilla respectively, and expect to complete a deal to sign Celta Vigo forward Iago Aspas in a matter of days.

The 25 year old old moved to the Stadium of Light in a £2m deal from Sint-Truiden in June 2010 and has made 101 appearances for the Black Cats.

Mignolet may well hope that a high-profile move to Liverpool helps his push to overtake Chelsea youngster Thibaut Courtois as the Belgian national team first choice custodian.

The move to sign Mignolet will leave many wondering what the future holds for current first choice Liverpool keeper Pepe Reina. The Spaniard had been strongly linked with a move to Barcelona, with Victor Valdes publicly stating his intention to leave the Nou Camp but as yet not deal has been struck between the two clubs.
