Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney will hold talks with new manager David Moyes next week as he prepares to decide his future, the Daily Mirror reports.

With the possibility that Rooney may decide to leave Old Trafford, Arsenal and Chelsea are preparing bids for the England striker should he become available.

Rooney is reportedly hurt that former boss Sir Alex Ferguson told the media that the striker wanted to leave the club.

The 27 year old denies that he asked to leave and will seek assurances from Moyes that he is still valued at the club and that Ferguson’s comments were a misunderstanding.

Interestingly, Ferguson has recommended selling Rooney this summer as his asking price will drop dramatically over the next year.

Rooney will turn 28 in October and has 2 years remaining on his contract at United.

However, the decision is up to Moyes, who gave Rooney his debut for Everton and may want to give the England striker a chance to impress.

If Rooney does leave, it is understood that he wants to stay in England, however United are unlikely to sell him to Chelsea as they see the Blues as direct challengers for title and may decide to sell Rooney to Arsenal instead.
