Chelsea look set to enter the race to try and sign Brazilian star Paulinho, despite Spurs having had a bid accepted by Corinthians, the Daily Mirror reports.

Spurs have been in negotiations with Corinthians for sometime and have had a bid of £15 million accepted by the Brazilian club.

However, it now looks like Chelsea will enter the race at the last moment, having snatched Oscar from under the noses of QPR  last summer.

Paulinho confirmed Spurs interest in him when he spoke to the media after Brazil’s Confederations Cup win over Italy and said that he would sit down with his family and talk about the offer.

He could have another offer on the table from Chelsea if the Blues make a bid for him and may prefer a move to Stamford Bridge because of the prospect of Champions League at the club next season.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is in the market for a midfielder this summer and is currently interested in Vitesse Arnhem’s Marco Van Ginkel and Galatasaray’s Wesley Sneijder, who played under Mourinho during the pair’s time at Inter Milan.

Spurs will hope to have the signing of Paulinho wrapped up before Chelsea have a chance to talk to the player.
