Officials at Manchester City are worried that one of their top summer transfer targets could be about to snub them and move to Real Madrid instead according to the Guardian.

Reports in Spain are suggesting that Isco could be about to sign for Real Madrid on a five year deal, which would be a hammer blow to the City hierarchy, who have always thought that they would be able to sign the midfielder.

City thought Isco would want to come to the Etihad, mainly because new manager Manuel Pellegrini former a strong bond with Isco during their time together at Malaga.

However, terms were recently agreed between Malaga and Madrid and the Spanish giants have wasted no time in talking to the midfielder, with talks being headed by Madrid president Florentino Perez himself.

The prospect of losing Isco to Madrid would open old wounds at City, with the club having had problems signing their main transfer targets last summer, directly contributing to their poor defence of the Premier League title.

Although City have already signed Jesus Navas and Fernandinho, the loss of Isco will be difficult to take as he was one of Manuel Pellegrini’s top transfer targets, but it seems that the lure of Real Madrid maybe to much for the Spanish star.
